Fun with Reviews

When is a Review Not a Review? When it’s a hilarious day brightener

Here at, we take reviewing products and services seriously. And, that’s to be expected on a site such as this. As most of you probably know, however, there are many, many other sites that take their reviews seriously as well. Amazon is one of them.

Doesn't everyone want this enormous (and enormously expensive) Samsung UN105S9 Curved 105" "Ultra TV?" Occasionally, however, we see reviews that are nothing short of absolutely hilarious. And there is nothing wrong with that. Funny reviews usually occur when something most of the population sees a product as absurd or, perhaps, just silly. And, today, it was brought to our attention that Samsung was selling a “TV set” for $120,000. Yes, you read that correctly. $120,000.

The “TV” is actually a Samsung UN105S9 Curved 105-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV, just to be clear as to why it’s a little pricier than some of their other television sets.

This writer’s father, who was (as he’s wont to say) a “child of the great depression,” would surely just “tsk” his tongue and lament the way our values have gone with the wind. However, this writer sees an opportunity. An opportunity to share a little mirth with the readers of this blog and website.

It’s the reviews, my friends, that makes this so impossible to keep one’s coffee from coming out one’s nose.

For example, Mr. Eric J. Smith wrote the following review, of which 2,358 of 2,458 people found helpful:

“Financing Available!

I was able to purchase this amazing television with an FHA loan (30 year fixed-rate w/ 4.25% APR) and only 3.5% down. This is, hands down, the best decision I’ve ever made. And the box it came in is incredibly roomy too, which is a huge bonus, because I live in it now.”

Then, there was this 4-star review from Beth F. Kaminkow “BK” of Los Angeles, CA who said that she was “Glad this came with a stand because after selling our house to get this we have no walls to hang it on. Just wish it was battery operated as we don’t have anything to plug it into…otherwise would have given it 5 stars.”

Not everyone was so gracious. Jack R rated this only 3.0 out of 5 stars, saying that it was a “Great TV if you have the money. The only problem is that it was curved/bent when I took it out of the box.”

Want to see this for yourself? Then, please go to Amazon, here’s the link directly to the product. If you decide to buy this through my link, I will be very grateful, because Amazon will offer me a small commission for my good work in referring you. Enjoy! Here’s the link:
